Travel: Pack With Me for puerto rico

Packing for a trip can sometimes be so damn annoying. You're leaving behind your wardrobe and essentially traveling with a capsule collection that needs to last you your whole trip. When I pack, I usually pick out things that I know will work on my trip. I'm going to Puerto Rico for my grandparents anniversary party and these are the faves I picked!

With the temperature being hot as hell back home, I picked light dresses that will keep me cool. I'm not a big fan of shorts or capris so I always go with light summer dresses. I always suggest packing for the temperature you know you're going to that way there are no surprises and no need for a Walmart trip.
The way I pack, I set out exact outfits down to the bra and shorts that I will need that way I don't leave anything behind.
I suggest taking your time with this part. Really make sure you tried on everything and feel great with the outfit. The worst thing is getting to your destination and not liking anything you packed. I've done this many times and have ended up shopping a whole new mini wardrobe.

This dress has to be the best thing I've ever purchased from Target! It has a cut out under the bust, a bow that you can tie any way you want, and it has an elastic back! In the heat and summer, I always get swollen and feel like I'm bursting out of my clothes. I have a feeling that this dress with help with that feeling. I paired it with bright rings and a necklace that has a pop of color. Once I get back to NYC, I want to pair it with my black denim jacket and creepers to add a bit of edge.

This is the dress I ended up picking for my grandparents anniversary party. The romantic lace has a vibe of happiness and love that I couldn't pass it up. I was planning on wearing a maxi dress, but I figured this was dressier for the occasion.  I picked out a diamond headband and a simple statement necklace to bring out the dress more.

For casual days, I packed these distressed jeans and a black denim skirt that way I wasn't overdressed the whole time I was there. You know I have a bad habit of overdressing, so I picked comfy things that can take me shopping at flea markets or walking a boardwalk.

You can't leave your house without your makeup staples, I got this trick from mom and she truly shook me to the core! She told me to pack up my lotions and cosmetics in those plastic bags that bed sheets come in. They have a zipper and they're clear so they fit perfectly in your carry on.
Of course, roll all the items in your bag so you have a lot of room. I tucked my shoes between the rolls and around the perimeter of the bag, that way I use all the space I have. I put my cosmetics bag right on top of everything, lowering the risk of anything getting smashed and exploding.
They aren't the cutest things in the world, but they hold so much and have a durable zipper. If you plan on going on a trip, get yourself some sheets!
I also use this gold train case to hold my jewelry. It has a velvet interior and doesn't scratch my vintage rings. It has two zippers with many compartments to hide all your goodies.

I'm really excited for this trip. I haven't seen my family since the hurricane and it has been a whirlwind of emotions. I can't wait to see them all and spend as much with them that I can. Stay tuned for all my #OOTDs! I promise they'll be great.
