Style: First Look Of the Summer

Every summer I turn into a 70's teen with angst and wanderlust. I want to let down my hair, jam to Janis Joplin, and miss the lover I never had. Summer is the start of longer days filled with activities that will bring you happiness. I always associate summer with carefree memories of being with my grandparents during summer break, we would pick fruit and flowers and listen to records on my grandpa's record player. I sound like a hippie but that's what we used to do! I love winter way more, but summer always brings out my free spirit and my need to be happy.
I started off the summer with a classic black denim skirt that will pair perfectly with anything this summer! Style it with a lacey cami and heels or with a casual t-shirt like I did. The good thing about denim skirts is that they keep their shape and will suck you in when you swell in the heat. I know you swell up, I do to so don't worry. When you feel gross and bloated the last thing you want is something tight, but I think something tight will keep you sucked in. Of course, I wear shorts underneath so that also helps with keeping me sucked in.
If you're brave enough to wear double denim, try a super light wash denim jacket with fun pins and patches.
I got this skirt from Dia&Co ages ago and I never got to wear it because it had a giant hole in it. My grandma is a seamstress so she fixed it for me when I went to see her a couple weeks ago.
Summer is also about backpacks that will keep you hands-free to walk street fairs or enjoy a day at the park. I always pack the essentials. A bottle of water, deodorant, and a body spray. I hate getting stinky when I sweat so I pack all the things that will keep me fresh.
This picture is just for my own amusement. I look a teen of the 70's and that's my dream come true. My true aesthetics.
