Concert Review: Niall Horan
On September 12th I saw my soul mate in person. He was perfect, he was cute, and it was the day before his birthday! He wore a crisp white shirt with a leaf pattern and gray trousers that made his butt look cute.
On the day of the concert, I had to work a super early shift in order to be able to get ready and get to the concert on time. By 4:45 I was on my way because I was preparing for a long ride to Jones Beach Theatre. When my cousin and I were preparing for this trip, we googled high and low on how to get there. Google was no help at all, so please don't listen to what they have to say! It told us that the LIRR stopped running at 7PM and that we needed to take a cab all the way back to Brooklyn because everything would be closed. Big lie! The LIRR runs all night and you will NOT get stranded. The best way to get there from Brooklyn is to get to Atlantic Terminal, take the LIRR towards Babylon and get off the stop that's called Freeport. From Freeport, you have to take a cab to the arena that's maybe $15-$20 and bam! You made it all the way to the concert. This worked great for us, try getting there this way when the next season of concerts coming up.
The food was kind of expensive with $12 french fries and 3 piece chicken tenders. At Barclays, I think you get 5 pieces for a little less. The merch was VERY expensive. I paid $45 for a t-shirt, but it was Niall Horan so I just paid for it! Now I that I think about, I could've waited until Hot Topic carried his merch but I was so wrapped up that I just spent the money. I really liked this venue, the only thing I didn't like was that the seats were so small! It was very crowded and I felt like I was sitting on top of the person next to me. Other than that, Niall killed it and made me cry three times.
We didn't watch Marena Morris perform but she sounded great while took #OOTDs outside of the arena. When it was time for Niall to come out, I screamed while peeing a little. I'm never ready for when an artist comes out on stage, I always end up crying just a little, losing my composure altogether. He opened with On The Loose with a glossy Gibson ES-335 with Bigsby Hollowbody Electric Guitar. It fits him so well, the red makes him look like an adult and I'm here for it!
During the show, he would make jokes and dance around looking like he was genuinely happy! His infectious laughter, bright smile, and amazing talent showed in his work. I'm sure being in One Direction had to be hard because he had to share the spotlight with 3 ( or 4 if you include beautiful Zayn) people. He commanded the stage with an awkward, cute demeanor where you can tell that he's enjoying himself but he still wants to say that he doesn't deserve the attention. When we sang him a happy birthday, he started blushing and said that he felt like an embarrassed 3 year who wanted to cry.
I did cry, 3 times to be in fact. I cried once when I saw Harry at MSG but with Niall, I felt his songs in my soul. I can relate to a lot of his music, songs like Fire Away, Since We're Alone, and On My Own really have a special place in my heart. When he sang these songs I cried pretty hard, I wasn't expecting that reaction from myself. Hearing his voice live was so magical and he sounds exactly his album. No bells or whistles, just plain talent. I loved when he played So Long, a song that was unreleased and played beautifully. I loved his voice acoustically with the piano, it was soulful.
Niall's concert was the last show of the season so Jones Beach Theatre will be pretty much closed until next summer. The beach smell is amazing, keeping everything cool. Even the drunk girl that kept grabbing my love handle couldn't ruin the night.
